1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser. "Browser storage" (localStorage) works in a similar way. This policy explains what Free Gex uses and why, under the UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
2. What we use
| Name | Type | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
fg_sid | Cookie · strictly necessary | Keeps you signed in securely (HttpOnly, SameSite). Holds a random session ID only. | Until you sign out or close the browser |
fg_pending | Cookie · strictly necessary | Only when you sign up with Google: carries your Google email to the last sign-up step. | 15 minutes |
fg_age | Browser storage · strictly necessary | Remembers that you confirmed you're 18+ and in the UK. | Until you clear it |
fg_cookies | Browser storage · strictly necessary | Remembers your choice on the cookie banner. | Until you clear it |
We do not use advertising cookies, and we don't sell or share cookie data.
3. Third-party cookies
- Google sign-in: if you use "Continue with Google", Google loads its sign-in button and may set its own cookies. This happens only on the sign-in and sign-up pages. See Google's cookie policy.
- Our games: games are served from our own domain (freegex.com/our-games/) and may use browser storage to remember in-game settings such as sound.
4. Your choices
Strictly necessary cookies can't be switched off, because the site can't work properly without them. You can change your banner choice at any time with the button, also found in the footer. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; if you block fg_sid, you won't be able to stay signed in.
